Library:

The college has a fine library stocked with almost 20, 000 books and journals and a spacious reading room. It is open from 10.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (from Monday to Friday) and 10.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on Saturdays. Besides the Central Library there are Seminar Libraries in every department, which stock text and reference books and photocopies of important articles and model questions papers;

Hostel:

South Calcutta Girls' College is the only college in the southern part of the city that offers hostel facility to the students. It can at present accommodate 50 boarders. The hostel is efficiently run on a low budget basis and great attention is paid to the cleanliness of the premises, discipline and well being of the students.

Rules

Hostel Charges are payable at the time of admission. Only food charges may be paid in two installment in an equal amount (Rs. 5500/- + Rs. 5500/-). First installment to be paid at the time of admission and the second installment in the month of December every year. Once admitted, only the caution money will be refunded

Laboratories:

The Geography and Bio-Science labs are well-equipped and students receive individual attention.

Computer Training:

South Calcutta Girls' College Computer Centre (Ph: 2475 7453) has been set up in Technical collaboration with The Institute of Computer Engineers (India), and is recognized by Dept. of Electronics (DOE) Govt. of India and Courses approved by AICTE.

Canteen Facility is provided for the students and all the staff members of the college

A Gymnasium with modern equipment. A Gym-trainer will be available during college hour.

The College has opened a new multi gym with all the necessary equipment.

Students' Health Home : The College is a permanent member of the Students' Health Home. Every Student is enrolled on payment of Annual Subscription of Rs. 5/- .Free medical facilities are offered by the health home.

Students' Aid Fund: The College offers half/ full free studentship to needy and meritorious students. There is also provision for Book Grants to such students.

Students' Union: Every student is a member of the students' union (an elected body) which organizes various functions from time to time.

Cheap Store: The College has a well equipped cheap store, where University text books, question papers, stationery and other accessories are available to meet student requirements.

Net Surfing Facilities: The college provides Net Surfing facilities to students.

Travel Concession: Travel Concessions are available to students for travel by air, train or bus routes within India.

Grievance Redressal Cell: Monitored by senior members of the academic staff, the cell deals with students' problems. Students are free to write about their grievances without revealing their identity.

Alumnae Association: The alumnae Association of South Calcutta Girls' College named PRAYASH takes keen interest in the welfare of the college and its development. It ensures a steady interaction between bonafide and ex-students.
