Admission Particulars

South Calcutta Girls' College is a government aided heritage institution affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It was established in July 1932 at the initiative of renowned educationists, notably late Peary Mohan Chatterjee, to provide opportunity of higher education to the young women of the vicinity.

 

Direction of the University of Calcutta

Direction of the University of calcutta for admission in any Subject with Honours is as follows

For General Category Candidate:

At least 50% marks in aggregate in H.S. or equivalent examination with at least 45% marks in the related Subject/ Subject opted for Honours Course

OR

At least 55% marks in the relevant Subject/ Subject opted for Honours Course

For SC/ST Category Candidate:

For SC/ ST Candidate, having certificate in the name of the student, 40% marks in aggregate or 40% marks in the subject/ related subject in H.S. or equivalent examination is required.

 

 

Rules & Regulations

Appearing in the college examination is mandatory for every student, failing which she may not be promoted to the higher class or she may be disallowed from appearing in the University Examination.

Medical certificate showing the cause of absence will not be sufficient for promoting any student or for allowing her for the University Examination

The decision of the Teachers' Council in matters of promotion is final.

As per regulation of the University of Calcutta minimum percentage of attendance required by a student is 75% of the total lectures delivered including tutorials and practical classes

 

Documents Required for Admission

For obtaining Admission Form
1. Original mark sheet of the last public examination (only for inspection)
To be attached with filled up admission form

One attested photocopy of the mark sheet of the last public examination.
2.
One attested photocopy of the Admit Card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination testifying the date of birth of the candidate
3.
One copy of the photograph of the
candidate to be pasted on the admission form duly signed by the candidate
4.
Attested copy of the SC/ST certificate in case the candidate belongs to SC/ST
5.
One Admission form is required to be attached with the web form and form number of the admission form will have to be written on the web form
At the time of admission (To be verified by the college office administration)

Botany 20 55% marks in Bio-Science, 50% marks in aggregate and Pass Marks in Chemistry. The candidates are required to pass in Theory and Practical examinations separately.
Economics 10 55% marks in aggregate, 55% marks in the subject, 50% marks in English and 50% marks in Mathematics
Education 30 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
English 33 65% marks in aggregate and 65% marks in subject.
Geography 30 60% marks in aggregate and 60% marks in theory and 60% narks in English.
History 50 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
Journalism and Mass Communication 30 60% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in language group.
Philosophy 50 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
Political Science 50 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
Sanskrit 30 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
Sociology 20 As directed by the University of Calcutta*
Zoology 20 60% marks in Bio-Science, 60% marks in aggregate, 55% marks in English and pass marks in Chemistry. The candidates are required to pass in Theory and Practical examinations separately.

B. For B.A. / B.Sc. (GENERAL)

Part - III Nov 2011 2nd Week of January '12 Result - Last Week of January 2012 within 7 days from the completion of Part - II Exam.
